| Weekend Breakation - We have been working really hard on our PAD articles and having a really great success rate, so we decided to reward ourselves with a breakation.
On Friday we headed off to Sydney where we had booked into the Marriott Hotel, which is based down at the Circular Quay end of town. [ La Dolce Vita ] Google Docs and Spreadsheets - Today we finally got around to putting all of our backlink analysis spreadsheets onto Google Spreadsheets. We previously had everything stored in Excel but since both of us could be working on the same thing at any one time this got confusing as we kept having to tell each other what we were doing. We uploaded the spreadsheets and they transferred over perfectly. [ La Dolce Vita ] Great PAD day today! - Today was a great day for PAD. We managed to get four articles sent out to various sites. All of them were very strong sites with pageranks of 5 or 6 and really strong sitening scores. One of the sites originally sent back an email to say that they have never accepted articles from outside sources. [ La Dolce Vita ] Results of Our Press Releases - Just thought that those reading our blog and listening to our Coffee Talk might like to hear the results from our press release for the local art and craft market that we recently organised. We actually submitted two press releases to the local papers and various radio stations. [ La Dolce Vita ] The Power of Press Releases - I just had to tell our little story to illustrate the power of press releases. We are currently setting up an art and craft market in our local community. Don't ask us why we are doing this since we already have a jewellery business and the affiliate business takes up most of our time but it kind of just developed... [ La Dolce Vita ] Affiliate Summit Miami 2007 - We arrived in Miami on Saturday and made our way to the Intercontinental Hotel by bus transfer. The hotel is situated on Biscayne Bay in Downtown Miami and is a very nice hotel with large rooms and bathrooms. [ La Dolce Vita ] Affiliate Summit here we come! - Only two more days and we are off to the States to attend the Affiliate Summit. We booked quite a while ago for this trip and now all of a sudden it is here. This will be our first Affiliate Summit - actually it will be our first affiliate event ever so it will be a good experience. [ La Dolce Vita ] Day 6 of our Press Release - Another check of Google shows 406 references to our press release!! The stats in PRWeb show 671 full page reads, 5 people have printed our press release and 5 have downloaded a PDF file of it. [ La Dolce Vita ] Day 4 of our Press Release - Today in Google we have 211 references to our press release. We are also on page 1 or 2 in Google News for most of our major keywords. And the stats in PRWeb show that so far over the 4 days our press release has been viewed 627 times, 5 people have printed the press release and 4 have downloaded a PDF version. [ La Dolce Vita ] Day 3 of our Press Release - I just had a quick check in Google search for references of our press release and it came up 118 times. That's an increase of about 50 from yesterday. The actual full page reads of our press release on PR Web has been 606 for the three days. [ La Dolce Vita ] Day 1 of our Press Release - Well we managed to get our press release approved which we were happy with considering we wrote it ourselves. As we had paid for the $200 package our press release was on the front page of PRWeb for the entire day and we had approximately 450 full page reads for that day. [ La Dolce Vita ] Our first press release - After attending the online Webinar at PRWeb we have been very keen to submit our first press release. We are currently getting one written up but in the meantime we decided to write one of our own for one of our other websites and we think we did a pretty good job of it. We recently did an upgrade of one of our websites and added a comparison shopping section so we used this as the basis of our press release. We paid for the $200 package only because we received a [ La Dolce Vita ] Results of our Recent PAD Articles - Just recently I spoke about having to write a couple of articles that related to Austria and some how tie it in with the topic of our website. Well the articles were added and this is part of the response from the owner of the website: "articles both are fine and if you go on like this you can have published as many of them as you like on my site." Just lately I am finding that I am writing more and more articles from scratch. [ La Dolce Vita ] PAD is an acronym for Procrastination And Dilly-Dallying! - Procrastination has been a big problem with us and we seem to have been doing everything but work on PAD. We might do a bit of work here and there but it really hasn't been enough. [ La Dolce Vita ] Dragon Naturally Speaking Software - Last week we went and purchased a copy of the Dragon NaturallySpeaking software at the recommendation of someone on the forum. I'm actually typing this post using the Dragon NaturallySpeaking software by dictating into my headset. [ La Dolce Vita ] Breakations! - One of the best things about Affiliate Marketing is the Breakations. Wanda and I have been working hard what with our jewellery business and the affiliate marketing and we also have birthdays within 2 days of each other so with this in mind we decided to treat ourselves with a little breakation to Sydney. [ La Dolce Vita ] Todays Online Coaching Session - I loved todays coaching session, particularly the discussion about the Dragon Naturally Speaking software. I am seriously considering purchasing it and probably a recordable MP3. I have an iPod but I am almost certain you can't record into it so it looks like an iRiver or similar might be on the cards. [ La Dolce Vita ] Another PAD Article Update - Just recently I found a nice site that accepted three of our PAD articles. Since the pagerank update I decided to go back to the first article she added and check it out. [ La Dolce Vita ] Google PageRank Update! - I just noticed today that Google has updated their pagerank. I am so excited as our sites have done really well. I have been trying to ring Wanda (my business partner) to let her know as I know she will be thrilled but she has gone out with her husband today for a drive and I can't seem to contact her. The sites that already had a pagerank have gone up at least one notch and a couple of sites we had with no pagerank have gone to a pagerank of [ La Dolce Vita ] A Successful Weekend - This has been a great weekend for PAD articles. I have sent off 7 articles to sites. I also found another 50 or so sites to email. I kind of got a bit sneaky and went looking for other websites that work on PAD articles. [ La Dolce Vita ] Second Email - I mentioned in the previous blog entry that someone at the bootcamp mentioned sending a second and third email to your PAD website prospects. I tried that this week and it seems to have worked. [ La Dolce Vita ] More on PAD articles - Lately we have been having more success with PAD articles. In the past week or so we have had 4 articles added to 4 different websites. I am going to be emailing each of those to see if they will take more. I am also going to be emailing the ones I have already emailed who haven't responded. [ La Dolce Vita ] Google Rankings - I've mentioned previously that one of our websites that was doing extremely well just suddenly stopped ranking in Google for anything. We haven't been banned as we are still indexed in Google and have a pagerank but it is not generating any traffic from Google at all. I have been all over the net looking for reasons why and a couple of things kept coming up: 1. [ La Dolce Vita ] Too many things... - We can't help ourselves. (When I say 'we' I am referring to me and my friend Wanda who works on the websites with me.) The problem with us is that we have so many ideas and we find it hard to concentrate on the one thing. [ La Dolce Vita ] Performance Incentives - We have just received our first performance incentive. Performance incentives can be given by merchants for any number of reasons but generally it is because you achieve a certain amount of sales in a particular time period. Ours wasn't for that reason as we are still building up. [ La Dolce Vita ] Affiliate Summit finally booked - We have finally managed to book a flight to the US for Affiliate Summit and it is paid for so they can't change it on us now. We will be heading to New York for 5 days and then Florida for 7 days. [ La Dolce Vita ] PAD Article Status - Since starting seriously on PAD articles (which was only a couple of weeks ago) so far we have had only two sites that have accepted the articles. One has just emailed to say they will be posting it to their site. [ La Dolce Vita ] Search Engine Room Conference - I just found a conference in Sydney that I never knew existed. It will be running from March 20-21. Sydney is only a three hour drive from us so we are thinking of attending. [ La Dolce Vita ] Are we ever going to make it to Affiliate Summit? - As we have previously posted we have booked our tickets to the US to attend the Affiliate Summit in July....or so we thought. Our travel agent just emailed to say that Qantas have introduced a black-out period from June 17 to July 17 which of course is the period we want to travel in. The Bad News Our site that has been ranking on page 1 or 2 of Google has now jumped back to its previous ranking of being on page 5. It is costing us a fortune as we are coming from Australia but we think it will be worth it and a lot of fun. We are ranking on page 2 of Google at the moment for a really competitive keyword and working hard at getting it to page 1. [ La Dolce Vita ] What do I do? - Went to lunch today with a group of friends I hadn't seen for a while and they were all wondering what I was doing at the moment so off I went with the big explanation. Explaining affiliate marketing can be a bit tricky as you can't just say 'I am an affiliate marketer' because 99% of the population has no idea what that is. [ La Dolce Vita ] Website work - Since we are starting to rank really well for some serious keywords I decided that now is the time to take a look at the website to see if it needs any changes. [ La Dolce Vita ] PAD Articles - So far the PAD articles are coming along slowly. I have emailed over 200 websites so far but the response hasn't been overwhelming. I have been concerned with the lukewarm respose but I sat down and reread James Martells PAD article and found a small little paragraph that mentions that it is a numbers game and you might get 1-3 articles up for every 30 sites you email. [ La Dolce Vita ] Staying Motivated... - Trying to stay motivated is probably one of the hardest things to do in this business. Time is a big factor as this isn't a business that you can make money with overnight. [ La Dolce Vita ] More high ranking keywords - Since the last post I have been checking Google for other keywords and we are ranking on the first page for a couple of really good keyphrases. This must have all happened only in the past day or so. [ La Dolce Vita ] Great news - I have just checked one of our keywords in Google and we are on page 2 for it. This is fantastic news!! This keyword is the ultimate keyword to get for our website so to be on page 2 is just brilliant. [ La Dolce Vita ] Pay Per Post Update - Well since putting up the opportunity in PPP earlier today and having it approved, I have received a response to the 10 posts I asked for. I had 8 posts within half an hour and the other two not long after. [ La Dolce Vita ] Pay Per Post - Today I created an opportunity in Pay Per Post for 10 posts. Since Pay Per Post now allows the advertiser to select from a range of options including pagerank and Alexa score I decided to only allow bloggers with a pagerank of 4 to bid for the opportunity. [ La Dolce Vita ] Backward links, backward links, backward links! - This is my mantra at the moment. Although we have about 15 websites we are only concentrating on two at the moment and getting backward links for them is the priority.
